Amitabh Bachchan, AR Rahman and Randeep Hooda also honored with Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar Award

Amitabh was honored with the Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar Award on Wednesday (April 24) in recognition of his contribution to the industry. Lata Mangeshkar is the eldest among five siblings.

Amitabh was honored with the Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar Award on Wednesday (April 24) in recognition of his contribution to the industry. After the death of Lata Mangeshkar, the eldest of five siblings, in 2022, the family and trust had established this esteemed award in the memory of the music queen.

Singer Usha Mangeshkar, the third among siblings in the Mangeshkar family, honored Bachchan with the award. Earlier, Mangeshkar's other sister and famous singer Asha Bhosle was to present the award but she could not attend the program due to ill health.

Big B also gave a speech at the event and said that he was fortunate to receive this award. Big B said that his father, renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, used to compare Lata Mangeshkar's voice to a “stream of honey”.

Amitabh Bachchan said- 'I never considered myself worthy of such an award but Hridaynath ji tried very hard for me to come here. He had also invited me for this function last year. Hridaynath ji, I apologize to you for the last time. I told you then that I was unwell. While I was healthy, I did not want to come here. This year I had no excuse so I had to come here.

Apart from these, music director AR Rahman was awarded the Master Dinanath Award and actor Randeep Hooda was awarded the special award.

Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award is given every year to a person who has made commendable contribution to the country, its people and society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was first awarded this honor in the year 2022. After him, this award was given to Asha Bhosle in 2023.
