‘Benefit of dowry, even ugly girls get married’, uproar over the syllabus of nursing students

There is a demand to remove the dowry system from the Nursing Council syllabus. Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has shared a picture of a page of the book, in which the benefits and harms of dowry have been mentioned. He has said that it is a shame that such books are now being given a place in the curriculum. Priyanka Chaturvedi has urged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to remove this book from circulation.

The merits and demerits of dowry have been written in a section of ‘Qualification of dowry’ under the syllabus of Sociology in Nursing course. In which it has been told that on whom unmatched marriages are done on the basis of dowry. In this, the people of the wealthy family find a beautiful groom on the basis of dowry for the ugly girls.
