Europe : Russian national teams and clubs are banned from participating in UEFA competitions. The announcement was made by European football’s governing body on Monday, saying that Russia will not be able to participate in all tournaments until further notice is issued. The Russian team will no longer be able to take part in the UEFA European Women’s Championship.

Now Portugal’s team will join in place of Russia. Portugal will replace Russia for the European Women’s Championship football tournament to be held in England from July 6 to 31. Portugal will join the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland in Group C. In addition, UEFA also disqualified Russia’s bid to host the men’s Euros in 2028 and 2032 and said the team would also not participate in the 2022–23 Nations League.

In addition, Russian clubs will also not be able to participate in UEFA’s Champions League, Europa League or Europa Conference League next season. Also UEFA and world governing body FIFA suspended Russian clubs and national teams from their competitions after the invasion of Ukraine. In March, Russia had appealed to lift the ban imposed on it. He appealed, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld the ban on Russia.
