New Delhi. Virat Kohli may not have been able to score runs with the bat in IPL 2022, but still he has a record to his name which shows his greatness. In the 49th match of the league, Kohli scored 30 runs in 33 balls against Chennai Super Kings, which included 3 fours and 1 six. During this innings, Kohli has become the first batsman in the history of IPL to play a total of 5000 balls.

Kohli is followed by three openers – Punjab Kings’ Shikhar Dhawan, who has faced 4810 balls, Rohit Sharma has faced 4429 balls and David Warner is the only foreign player in the top four to have played 4062 balls. Kohli has scored 6499 runs in his entire IPL career at a strike rate of 129. In the match against Chennai, Kohli came to open with Faf du Plessis but he struggled and was dismissed by Moeen Ali.

Kohli looked badly out of touch throughout the season and even played a struggling 58 off 53 balls in his half-century against Gujarat Titans. After this slow innings of Kohli, there was a flurry of critics on social media. Now once again Kohli did not live up to the expectations in the match of Chennai as his strike rate went very low. Kohli may be going through a bad phase right now, but his greatness is not hidden from anyone. Kohli is still the highest run-scorer in IPL.
