In fact, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was first passed in the Lok Sabha. After this, it was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, where it was passed by voice vote. While speaking on this bill, Amit Shah said that the objective of the bill is to integrate the three municipal corporations, so that coordinated, strategic planning and resource development of the capital can be ensured. Shah also accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi of step-motherly treatment with all the three municipal corporations of the national capital – North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Shah said that the three municipal corporations of Delhi are not functioning properly due to the step-motherly behavior of AAP. In such a situation it became necessary to integrate them, so that they can work properly. Due to the step-motherly behavior of the state government, now there is dissatisfaction among the employees of all the three units.

Amit Shah further said that in 2011 the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was divided into three parts. We tried to find the reason for it, but it could not be found. Although the distributors must have taken this decision after thinking well, but after 10 years it is not showing good results, due to which they had to take the step of merger.
