new Delhi. Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a 3-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Wednesday. However, Kolkata’s head coach Brendon McCullum lauded the batsmen’s intent despite the loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Also said that fate did not favor him.

Talking to the media, McCullum said, “I am happy with the intention of the batsmen, but luck did not favor us, due to which we lost. You can be happy that your extra batsmen are playing better and batting longer You have. How set up. The players we have picked are fine.”

The Kolkata bowlers put up a stellar performance to take the match to the last over, but their star all-rounder Andre Russell’s shoulder trouble resumed during his 128-run defense. Regarding Andre Russell’s shoulder pain, McCullum said that Russell was not fully fit for the 13th over, but he still opted to move on. Russell was an important part of KKR as the team picked him for the first time in the year 2014. Since then, he has only missed the 2017 season and has been with the team for eight years. The Caribbean all-rounder handles the bowling as well as the batting department very well. He has been a finisher for KKR whenever the team needed it.

But he has also suffered several injuries over the years, and as a result, has not been able to contribute to the team as expected. And something similar happened during their match against RCB on 30 March (Wednesday). He dived close to the boundary and in the end, he injured his shoulder. McCullum said, “Russell ran around the boundary, dived and blocked that boundary for us which was fantastic. Unfortunately, he got hurt. But he still wanted to try and get the job done,” McCullum said. He wasn’t capable enough, but look, those are the things that happen in low-scoring matches.”
