Bollywood tadka team. ‘The Kerala Story’ has been banned in Kerala and West Bengal. Apart from filmmakers, many celebrities have also objected to the banning of the movie in both the states. At the same time, Vani Tripathi, a member of the Central Board of Film Certification, has also expressed anger over the decision to ban ‘The Kerala Story’ and termed the decision as undemocratic.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee banned the film in the state on 8 May. Talking on this, Vani Tripathi said – You are taking away the rights from the public which have been given to them by democracy. It is in the hands of the public to decide how a film is. Neither I, nor the producer of the film, nor any government can decide whether the film is able to connect with the audience or not. Only and only the public can decide this.

He further said – It is not necessary that the film which brings tears to your eyes must be a good film. Many films are dark. But, because we are a democracy, only we have the authority to give certification to any film and now if there is a problem in this process despite being a democracy, then God is the master.

At the same time, the Producers Guild of India had also expressed displeasure over the ban on The Kerala Story in the states by tweeting. He wrote – Screening of The Kerala Story has been banned in many states. We have emphasized many times in the past that the authority to regulate films rests only with the Central Board of Film Certification. The release of any film which is certified by CBFC cannot be stopped.
