New Delhi, May 27:
Indian gymnast Aruna Budda Reddy has made a sensational disclosure. The first Indian athlete to win an individual medal at the Gymnastics World Cup on Thursday alleged that one of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) coaches videographed her without her consent. This was when the fitness test was being held at the IGI Stadium in the month of March this year.

Aruna won bronze in the 2018 Melbourne Worlds. He has warned of initiating legal action against the coach, as the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) has pointed out that it had not ordered any person to make the video.

The incident happened on March 24, 2022 when Aruna along with her coach Manoj Rana had come to Delhi for a test being conducted by GFI.

The Federation had constituted a six-member committee for this. According to Aruna, the doctor involved in the committee, Manoj Patil, did her tests which were done while performing on the injured knee. But this test was shot on mobile by one of the trainees of Sai Coach Jaiswal without his consent. The test lasted for about 10 minutes.

But Aruna later came to know that the video was shot illegally. There were no orders from the Gymnastics Federation to shoot this video.

A shocked Aruna later wrote a mail to the Federation: “Sir… I bring to your attention that the video of the fitness test was taken by Rohit Jaiswal’s student and I have evidence to prove my point. And therefore, I Request that video be obtained from that student.”

She further said that if this does not happen then she will be forced to take necessary steps as per law. Because if the video is taken without the permission of the federation, then it is a serious crime. Apart from this, taking video without the consent of a female player is also a serious matter.”

During this, Aruna has also told that she is asking for this video for the doctor because seeing her test in the video, the doctor will be able to investigate the case accurately and accordingly the right treatment plan will be made.

When contacted, Jaiswal said, “I am not aware of it and would not like to comment on the matter.”

It is learned that the matter has reached the house of SAI Director General (DG) Sandeep Pradhan. Sources said that the accused Sai coach and athlete will soon be called by the sports body to record their statements.

Meanwhile, the member of the committee has categorically refused to shoot any video. While Aruna’s coach Manoj Rana said that he has evidence to prove that Aruna’s fitness video was recorded and he will hand it over to the Director General of SAI.
