Cricket was included in the Commonwealth Games for the first time since 1998. Women’s cricket team was participating in these games for the first time. BCCI President and former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly also congratulated the Indian women’s team for winning the silver. She tweeted and wrote, “Congratulations to the Indian women’s team on winning the silver medal.. Although they will return home disappointed as it was their match.”
President Draupadi Murmu also tweeted and wrote, “Congratulations to the Indian women’s cricket team for winning the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games. You played like a champion till the end and your determination during the match was superb. Our daughters have made our country proud in Birmingham.

Harman’s innings wasted
Team India had a target of 162 runs and at one point the team’s score was 118-3. The match was slowly reaching an exciting mood and the Indian team could have won the match. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was looking in fine form, but after her dismissal, no other player could take the team to the target. Harman returned to the pavilion after scoring 65 runs in 43 balls. He hit 7 fours and two sixes in his innings. Apart from him, Jemima Rodrigues also scored 33 runs.
