New Delhi, August 8: In the Commonwealth Games 2022, the final match was played between the women’s cricket teams of India and Australia on Sunday. Batting first after winning the toss, Australia scored 161 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. In reply, the Indian team was all out for 152 runs. Australia won the gold medal by winning the match by 9 runs, while India got the silver medal.

At one point the Indian team’s victory seemed easy, but after that the Australian bowlers made a spectacular comeback to beat India in the final and shattered the dream of winning the gold medal.

This is not the first time that the Australian women’s cricket team has defeated India in the final of a major event. Even before this, the Indian women’s cricket team has collapsed in front of Australia in the finals of many big events. In the final of the 2005 ODI World Cup, Australia women defeated India by a huge margin. Batting first after winning the toss, Australia scored 215 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 50 overs. In this match, Karen Rolton scored a century and Lisa Sthalekar scored a half-century. In reply, the Indian team was reduced to 117 runs.

In the T20 World Cup 2020, the Indian team made a place in the final, performing brilliantly throughout the tournament. Indian women had faced Australia in the deciding match. Batting first after winning the toss, Australia gave India a target of 185 runs. Alyssa Healy scored 75 and Beth Mooney scored 78 for her. In response, the Indian women’s cricket team completely knelt down and were reduced to 99 runs. Australia’s Megan Schutt took 4 and Jess Jonasson took 3 wickets.
