‘I am getting threats to cut off the heads of my family…’
BJP leader Nupur Sharma told ANI on Friday (May 27), “There is a so called fact checker who has started spoiling the atmosphere by putting up a heavily edited and selected video from one of my debates last night. Since then, I have been receiving death and rape threats, including beheading threats against me and family members.”
‘If there is any loss to my family then they are responsible…’
BJP leader Nupur Sharma alleged that an Alt News owner posted an edited video to encourage trolls against her and said that she should be held “responsible” if any harm happens to her family.
Nupur Sharma said, “I have tagged the Commissioner of Police and Delhi Police. I suspect that I and my family members will suffer. If there is any loss to me or my family members, then Mohammad Zubair, who I believe is the owner of Alt News, is solely responsible.
‘If I was wrong then you should have fact-checked…’
Nupur Sharma said, “If I was wrong, the fact checker should correct the facts instead of sending me death threats. Please come forward and correct the facts. This is not right, it is completely illegal.” He (Zubair) is not a fact checker. He is a fake-spreader.” Further, Nupur Sharma said that she is countering all threats against her and will file a complaint in the matter.
Nupur Sharma tagged Delhi Police
BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma tagged Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana on Twitter to draw his attention to the threatening messages he received. He has further requested Delhi Police to take serious cognizance of the matter and provide security to his family.
Tagging Delhi Police, Nupur Sharma tweeted, “I am being sent threats of rape, death and beheading against my sister, mother, father and myself. I have reported this to @DelhiPolice. If I am Or anything untoward happens to any member of my family.
Delhi Police assured of investigation
Nupur Sharma wrote in another of her tweets, “@CPDelhi please note that instead of completely and utterly @zoo_bear ‘fact check’ to spoil the atmosphere, create communal disharmony & communal violence against me & my family.” And is responsible for promoting a fake narrative to create targeted hate.
Delhi Police in its reply said that the matter has been referred to the concerned authorities. Delhi Police tweeted, “The matter has been sent to the concerned authorities for necessary action. You will be contacted soon.”
