Mumbai, March 16. The Kashmir Files made on the massacre and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in many states of the country has been made tax free. At the same time, BJP MLAs in Maharashtra have demanded to make this film free by entertainment in the state, for this they have taken a big step.

92 BJP MLAs submitted memorandum to CM Thackeray

92 MLAs of the opposition BJP in Maharashtra government have signed a memorandum demanding relaxation in entertainment tax for the recently released film ‘The Kashmir Files’. This memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray by Sudhir Mungantiwar, senior BJP leader and chairman of Maharashtra Legislature Public Accounts Committee.

The film expresses the feelings of patriotism and nationalism
The BJP has said in its statement that the film, which depicts the atrocities being perpetrated on Hindus by jihadis, has been well received by critics and audiences. The BJP said that the film expresses the feelings of patriotism and nationalism and hence it should be made tax free in the state.

Assam government gave half a day’s leave to watch the film
Till now, BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and some other states have also exempted the film from entertainment tax. PM Modi has advised BJP MPs to watch this film. On the other hand, on Wednesday, the Assam government has given half a day’s leave to all government employees to watch this film.

Demand made in Rajasthan also
BJP leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Monday urged the Rajasthan government to make ‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free. In a tweet, Vansudhara Raje said that the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ based on the past situations and true events of Jammu and Kashmir has been made tax free in many states including Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat. He said, ‘I request the state government to make this film tax free in Rajasthan also.

Story of The Kashmir Files
Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, the film chronicles the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir after systematic killings of members of the community by Pakistan-backed terrorists. The film stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi in the lead roles.
