AR Khaleel Passes Away:
AR Khaleel, former vice-president, treasurer and executive committee member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), passed away on Wednesday. He breathed his last at the age of 91 due to prolonged illness. The AIFF has expressed grief over the demise of Khaleel, who was the former president of the Karnataka State Football Association.

Played an important role in the Asian Football Confederation
AR Khalil passed away on Wednesday i.e. today. He is survived by his wife and four daughters. A prominent face of the Indian Football Federation for almost six decades, Khaleel was also very active at the continental level and was also a member of the Standing Committees of the Asian Football Confederation on several occasions.

AIFF president expressed grief over Khaleel’s death
Condoling Khaleel’s demise, AIFF President Kalyan Choubey said, ‘Sad to know that AR Khaleel is no more. His death has left a void in the Indian football administration. Our thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.

AIFF General Secretary Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran said, ‘Khalilji was one of the foremost football administrators of his time, and played a huge role in popularizing the game in India, especially in Karnataka. Indian football has suffered a major setback with his death.

In fact, Khaleel, who was the president of KSFA for 28 years till 2018, had worked for various sports. He was a footballer who ran one of Bangalore’s traditional clubs, Jawahar Union FC, an administrator astute, and served Karnataka football as an office-bearer for many years. He also held managerial roles for the Indian national teams at various age groups.
