French Open win Rafael Nadal creates history by defeating Casper to win 22nd Grand Slam

New Delhi. The men’s singles final match of the Tennis Grand Slam, popularly known as Roland Garros, took place between Spanish star Rafael Nadal and Norway’s Casper Rudd, in which Nadal created history by winning his 14th French Open. Norway’s Kasper Rudd defeated Marin Cilic in the semi-finals to reach the final for the first time, while Nadal reached the final in the semi-finals after a walkover from Alexander Zverev injured himself.

Rafael Nadal, known as the King of Red Gravel, performed brilliantly in the final match and won the 22nd Grand Slam by defeating 6-3, 6-3 and 6-0. Rafael Nadal won the Australian Open earlier this year to win his 21st Grand Slam and holds the world record for most titles, winning the 14th French Open as well as his 22nd Grand Slam.

Nadal was seen playing aggressively from the first round and kept Casper Rudd from winning. In the first two sets, Casper managed to score 3-3 points, while in the last round, Nadal did not even allow Casper to open the account. Rafael Nadal won the last set 6-0 to win his 22nd Grand Slam.

Talking about the players who have won the most titles, Rafael Nadal is at the top with 22 titles, while Roger Federer of Switzerland and Novak Djokovic of Serbia are jointly second with 20-20 Grand Slams. With this victory, Rafael Nadal has become the oldest player to win this title. Nadal celebrated his 36th birthday on June 3.
