Google Pay adds UPI Lite support, know how to use it

upi Online payment has become the most used medium in the country. A significant portion of these payments are small value transactions where entering the UPI PIN every time can be annoying. This is the reason why National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) introduced UPI Lite last year for fast and PIN-free small value payments. Now, Google Pay, one of the largest UPI apps, has rolled out support for UPI Lite. Here’s everything you need to know about the feature and how to use it.

Google Pay UPI Lite feature

Google Pay UPI Lite is essentially an on-device wallet service that can be accessed directly from the UPI app. User does not need to install any other app to use its benefits. Nor does it require any KYC before use. UPI Lite allows users to make payments of up to Rs 200 without entering their UPI PIN. This results in a faster and more seamless payment experience.

A user can load a maximum of Rs 2,000 in the UPI Lite Wallet. As far as the transaction limit is concerned, a person can spend up to Rs 4,000 within 24 hours. One of the major advantages of UPI Lite is the clean bank statement. We all know how cluttered our bank details can look because of small amount UPI payments in our daily life. However, all UPI Lite payment transactions can be verified through the Google Pay app.

How to use Google Pay UPI Lite?

1 – Launch the Google Pay app on your smartphone.
2 – Tap on your profile in the top right corner.
3 – Tap on the UPI Lite option in the Payment methods section.
4 – Select the bank account you want to link with UPI Lite.
5 – Enter the amount (up to Rs.2,000) you want to add to the UPI Lite wallet.
6 – Enter your UPI PIN to authenticate the top-up and voila, you can now start using UPI Lite.
