Government sent team to evict Chirag Paswan from his father’s allot bungalow

New Delhi, 30 March: Former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s son and Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan has received a notice to vacate the bungalow allotted to his late father. The process of vacating the bungalow allotted to Ram Vilas Paswan started on Wednesday. Earlier a government team was sent here to implement an eviction order issued to him last year.

The Directorate of Estates, under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, on Wednesday sent a team to evict the family of late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan from 12 Janpath, who, according to sources, had lived in the bungalow from 1989 till his death in 2020. Official sources said that soon after a team of Directorate of Estates under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs reached there, the process of moving furniture and household items from the bungalow at Janpath in Lutyens’ Delhi began.

Two trucks carrying goods came out of the LJP’s official address 12 Janpath bungalow, while three more were standing in front of the bungalow. Officials said that the bungalow has been earmarked for the Union ministers and the occupants of the government residence have been asked to vacate it. The bungalow had received a notice to vacate eight months ago. After which the process of vacating this bungalow started on Wednesday. The process of vacating the bungalow may continue till late night.

Its bungalow was regularly used for organizing party organizational meetings and other related events. Ram Vilas Paswan, one of the prominent Dalit leaders of the country, died in October 2020 at the age of 74. He has been a minister in several central governments since 1989.

Chirag Paswan, being an MP, has been allotted another government residence, the official said. According to ministry officials, 12, Janpath House was allotted to Railway and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in August 2021, but could not be handed over as the bungalow was not vacant. While former minister P.C. Sarangi and Ram Shankar Katheria have also been asked to vacate the houses allotted to them as ministers.
