Lava, Micromax will benefit

A report said that the government has taken this decision to promote domestic companies like Lava, Micromax. Chinese smartphone companies are currently dominating the budget smartphone segment or in the less than 15000 price segment. In this range, Samsung or mobile companies from other countries are nowhere ahead of Chinese phones.

But now this decision of the government has dealt a big blow to companies like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Poco, Redmi, Realme. However, no official statement has come out from the government or any Chinese company on this matter so far. The purpose of this decision of the government is to establish the dominance of domestic companies in the entry level segment.

India second largest smartphone market

According to a Bloomberg report, the Indian government is planning to pursue Indian smartphone makers. If this move is effective then it may affect the sales of companies like Xiaomi, Poco, Vivo, Oppo. Let us tell you that India is currently the second largest smartphone market in the world, but Chinese companies are occupied. Domestic companies are not able to survive before these Chinese companies.

Chinese phones dominate India

According to market research firm Counterpoint, a third of smartphones priced below 12,000 were sold in India in the quarter to June 2022. Of this, 80 percent of the smartphones were from Chinese companies only. Apart from smartphones, the Indian government is also eyeing Chinese apps. Let us tell you that earlier in 2020, the government had banned about 60 Chinese apps at a time and after that many times Chinese apps were banned.

349 Chinese Apps Banned

So far, 349 Chinese apps have been banned. Recently, PUBG’s new avatar Battlegrounds Mobile India has been removed from the Google Play-store and Apple’s app after the order of the government. Regarding the removal of Battleground Mobile India from the store, the company has said that the app has not been banned permanently, but it has been temporarily blocked. The app will be back soon.

Chinese companies on target of government

Let us tell you that companies like Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi are already on target of Income Tax Department. These companies have also been accused of tax evasion. Recently ED raids of these companies have also taken place. After which the ED had sealed Vivo’s bank accounts in a case. The company later urged the authorities to unfreeze the bank accounts so that the company could continue doing business in the country.
