Aishwarya ruled hearts when she made her Cannes red carpet debut in 2002 alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, soon after her legendary film ‘Devdas’ was released. Ever since, Aishwarya became an inseparable feature of the French festival.

The former Miss World even became the first Indian actress to be a member of the Cannes jury, and in 2005, she became the first Indian to open the film festival. A clip from the special ceremony was widely circulated on social media.

The 58th Cannes Film Festival kicked off on May 11, 2005, and ended on May 22, 2005. 20 films from 13 different nations were chosen to compete at the event.
