On the other hand, the issue of conducting caste census has been going on in Bihar for a long time. After the proposal was rejected by the Central Government, the current Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar had announced to conduct caste based census in the state at his own expense. He had said that an all-party meeting would be convened on this issue, in which the strategy regarding the census would be decided. Now Jitan Manjhi, who was close to Nitish, has also said such a thing, which is different from the stand of the central government.

Manjhi’s tweet is- “Some people are afraid that if the castes are counted, then the world will know who has stopped the development of the country by stigmatizing our people.”
