IMF chief praised India’s fast growth rate, said – this is good news for the world

New Delhi, April 21. International Monetary Fund Chief Kristalina Georgieva on Wednesday praised India‘s rising growth rate. He said that this is good news for the world. The IMF chief said that India is one of those economies which can grow at a very fast pace. Despite a slight decline, India’s growth rate is likely to be 8.2 percent this year. This is very good for India, but at the same time it is good news for the world that too at a time where the growth rate has come down, which is a big problem.

Let us inform that last week the IMF had said that India’s growth rate is likely to be 8.2 percent. After which India has become the fastest growing major economy in the world. Talking about the global growth rate, it is 3.6 percent, which was 6.1 percent in 2021. On Tuesday, Georgieva met India’s Foreign Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. During this meeting, both the leaders discussed the geopolitical situation and economic impact on the economy.

Georgieva said that the way India has kept its policies holistic, it has helped in making the economy resilient. The way Corona’s challenge came to the fore, even after facing this challenge. Georgieva also praised India for helping neighboring countries. He said that Sri Lanka is going through financial crisis, India has helped it, it is a good thing. Along with this, the IMF chief has assured that she will actively help the island countries.
