India Open: PV Sindhu beats Ira Sharma, will face Ashmita Chaliha in the quarterfinals

Two-time Olympic medalist shuttler PV Sindhu entered the third round of the ongoing India Open 2022 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall in New Delhi on Thursday. In this All India level tournament, Sindhu defeated Ira Sharma 21-10, 21-10 to enter the next round. Sindhu continued to dominate in the first game as she finished the game within 13 minutes.

During this 26-year-old Sindhu took full advantage of her speed and won the match within 30 minutes.

Sindhu is looking forward to her fourth world title after more than a year. Sindhu will face Ashmita Chaliha in the last eight.

The 21-year-old left-hander from Assam, seen as one of the country’s most promising talent, defeated France’s Yelle Hoyaux (world No. 71) 21-17, 21-14 in the second round. Chaliha had defeated fifth seed Evgenia Kosetskaya in the first round. The world number 84 will be taking on Sindhu for the first time on the international circuit and it will be a great experience for her.

India’s tournament has also come under the grip of Kovid as the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday confirmed that seven players from India have been ruled out of the ongoing India Open 2022 after being hit by COVID-19. .

The seven players were all Indians and they were Kidambi Srikanth, Ashwini Ponnappa, Ritika Rahul Thakar, Trisa Jolly, Mithun Manjunath, Simran Aman Singhi and Khushi Gupta.
