India reached the quarter-finals of the Uber Cup 2022, PV Sindhu-Akarshi rocked the US team

New Delhi. Indian badminton stars have made it to the quarter-finals by winning one-sided matches in Group D of the Uber Cup Badminton 2022 being played in Bangkok. For the Indian women’s team, PV Sindhu, Akarshi Kashyap and Asmita Chaliha performed brilliantly to beat the US women’s team 4-1 and made it to the quarter-finals. In the matches played on Wednesday, the first match was between India’s PV Sindhu and Jenny Gaye of America, while Akarshi Kashyam faced Esther Shi.

The Indian women’s team had also defeated Canada team 4-1 in the first match of Group D and this is their second consecutive win, due to which it is now decided to finish in the top 2 in Group D as well as in the quarterfinals. The place is also fixed.

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu gave a winning start to the Indian team by winning 21-10 and 21-11 in the first match played against Jenny Gaye of America. Then in the women’s doubles, Tanisha Crasto and Trisa Jolly beat Francesca Corbett and Alison Lee 21-19 and 21-10. India’s Akarshi Kashyap defeated American shuttler Esther Shi 21-18 and 21-11 to take the Indian team’s lead 3-0.

However, in women’s doubles, India’s Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker lost 12-21, 21-17 and 13-21 to Lauren Lam and Cody Tang Lee to take the lead 3-1. India had already booked a place in the quarter-finals with three consecutive wins but Ashmita Chaliha beat Natalie Chi 21-18 and 21-13 in the last match to restore the winning lead to 4-1.

Now the Indian women’s team will have to play their last match against Korea in the group stage of Uber Cup 2022. After which the quarterfinal matches as well as the knockout stage matches will begin.
