New Delhi, March 31: Star batsman Suryakumar Yadav has joined Mumbai Indians after getting fit again. Mumbai Indians confirmed in a statement that Suryakumar has recovered from his finger injury.
Yadav was undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy after suffering a finger injury during the home series against West Indies last month and missed MI’s IPL opening match against Delhi Capitals on March 27. Mumbai has to play the next match with Rajasthan Royals.
MI said in a statement, “Suryakumar Yadav stepped out of his quarantine and joined the team (on Wednesday) for a gym session in the company of his teammates Kieron Pollard, Ishaan Kishan and Jasprit Bumrah… Is.”
Mumbai Indians had lost to Delhi Capitals by four wickets in their first match of the IPL at the Brabourne Stadium here. Mumbai failed to defend 178 runs as Delhi chased down the target in just 18.2 overs. For Delhi, there was an unbroken 75-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav.
Star India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had conceded 43 runs in 3.2 overs.
Mumbai Indians further said in a statement that the team underwent a strength and conditioning session yesterday under the supervision of Paul Chapman. The sessions included weight and fitness training, with a focus on working on core fitness and building strength.
