New Delhi, March 22: Lucknow Super Giants, who made their IPL debut in 2022, confirmed the addition of another player to their team at the last minute.

This is Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Mujarbani who will replace England pacer Mark Wood in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the 2022 season.

Wood will not play for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 as he has to be out of the field for the time being due to a right elbow injury.

LSG had spent Rs 7.5 crore for Wood in the IPL mega auction held in Bengaluru. The franchise has not yet disclosed the price of Mujarbani.

Wood withdrew from the first Test against the West Indies in the North Sound competition after bowling 17 overs in the first innings, citing an elbow problem. He was dropped from England’s playing team for the second Test, with Saqib Mahmood making his Test debut in his place.

The official Twitter account of the Indian Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe, confirmed the news in a post on Monday.

In the post, the bowler can be seen meeting with the Indian ambassador. The caption on the post read, “The Ambassador met Mr. Blessing Mujarbani, the Zimbabwean bowler, as he prepares to leave for the #IPL2022. The Ambassador wished him and his team a very Happy #LucknowSuperGiants.

Lucknow Super Giants will take on Gujarat Titans in their opening match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, March 28.
