The Mariners defeated former champions Bengaluru FC 4-3 (2-2) in a thrilling final that dragged on to a penalty shootout at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Saturday. Head coach Juan Ferrando’s Mariners won the Hero ISL title for the first time, playing in the final for the second time. The win saw ATK Mohun Bagan lift the Hero ISL trophy and was awarded prize money of Rs 6 crore, while head coach Simon Grayson’s Blues, who finished runners-up, received Rs 2.5 crore.
