With their eighth win, Bengaluru ended their season in sixth place. Coach Marco Pezauoli’s team managed to collect 29 points from 20 matches with eight wins and five draws. At the same time, the bad season for East Bengal continued in the last match as well. Coach Mario Rivera could only record one win this season. Kolkata’s team remained languishing in 20 matches with just one win and 11 points from eight draws.

The only goal of the match came in the 24th minute when skipper Sunil Chhetri put Bengaluru FC ahead 1-0. A long through-pass from centre-back Yaya Banana near the halfline was caught by the Bengaluru forward and grounded inside the D-box after hitting a near-half-line Nepalese centre-back Anant Tamang. A right footer shot the ball inside the left side of the goalpost while goalkeeper Suvam Sen dived to his right and hit the ball but the ball crossed the goalline.
