ISL 2022: Goa and Kerala’s match rained goals, yet the match ended in a draw

new Delhi. Kerala Blasters FC and FC Goa drew 4-4 in a thrilling high-scoring match played on Sunday in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22. Goa’s Spanish forward Airam Cabrera, who came in as a substitute player, was awarded the Hero of the Match award for scoring a hat-trick.

Kerala, which had qualified for the semi-finals on Saturday night with the defeat of Mumbai, did not suffer any loss from this draw. Coach Ivan Vukomaniac’s team retained their fourth place in the table with 34 points from 20 matches from their fourth draw. At the same time, Goa bid farewell to the ninth place. Coach Derrick Pereira’s team finished the season with 19 points from 20 matches with four wins and seven draws.

Kerala faced a tough challenge from Goa at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolin. Where Kerala took a 2-0 lead in the first half. The first goal of the match came in the 10th minute when Hoare Pereira Diaz gave Kerala Blasters a 1-0 lead. Edu Bedia’s effort on a free-kick found close to the side line on the right flank led the ball through the crowd to the second post, which Airam showed the direction of the goalpost from the left footer.

In the 63rd minute, Airam Cabrera converted a penalty kick to level Goa at 2-2. Goa got this golden opportunity in the form of a penalty when Kerala’s defensive midfielder Givson Singh fouled Maken Chhote inside his D-box and referee Aditya Purkayastha gave a penalty kick. Airam made a powerful kick from the left foot to entangle the ball on the right side of the goalpost while goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill miscalculated and dived in the opposite direction.

In the 79th minute, defender Eiban Dohling scored a brilliant goal to give Goa the first lead at 3-2. Controlling the ball on the left flank to Anwar Ali’s long hive through-pass from behind the halfline, Aiban first caught Prashant and then, after entering the box, made a difficult angle right footer to net the ball to the second post.
