new Delhi. Hyderabad FC registered their first win over ATK Mohun Bagan after coming back from a goalless goal. Hyderabad defeated Bagan 3-1 in the first leg of the second semi-final of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 on Saturday. Historic goal scorer Bartholomew Ogbeche was awarded the Hero of the Match award at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolin.

With this win, coach Manolo Marquez’s team will enter the second match of the two-leg semi-final with a psychological edge. Because after today’s result, Mohun Bagan’s streak of being undefeated against him is broken. This season, the match between the two teams has come to a close. Because in the first match of the season both were drawn 2-2 while in the second match Bagan won 2-1.

The first goal of the match came in the 18th minute when Roy Krishna gave ATK Mohun Bagan a 1-0 lead. In an attack from the left flank, winger Liston Colasso after hitting right-back Nam Dorji Tamang, entered the box to the right low-cross center, where the Indian-origin Fijian striker hit the ball with his left foot from very close. Showed the direction of the goalpost while goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani got no chance to defend.

Bartholomew Ogbeche’s goal just before the referee’s half-time draw saw Hyderabad level at 1-1. Yasir’s kick on a corner kick in the final moments of stoppage time in two minutes created a flutter in Bagan’s defence, and after Aniket Jadhav’s volley was blocked, the ball went to captain Huanan Gonzalez and he hit the ball six yards from inside the box. Chipped in the dangerous area, the Nigerian star striker steered the ball from a header to the second post while goalkeeper Amarinder Singh could not reach the ball despite diving to his left. It was Ogbeche’s 18th goal this season and equaled Koro’s ISL record for most goals in a season. He has a total of 53 goals, which is the most goals in the ISL.

Mohammad Yasir scored in the 58th minute to give Hyderabad a 2-1 lead. Ogbeche pulled out a through-pass towards the box for Dowi Siverio but centre-backs Tiri and Sandesh Jhingan collided in an attempt to block the dangerous pass and the ball deflected to Yasir, which he took from just outside the box. With a left footer shot, he was thrown into the net on the left side while goalkeeper Amarinder could not stop the ball even after diving to his right.

In the 64th minute, Dovi Siverio scored from a header to put Hyderabad 3-1 ahead. A corner kick on the left flank, Yasir made an accurate kick towards the dangerous six-yard area and from where the Spanish striker shot the ball from a header from Bagan’s captain Pritam Kotal towards the nearpost while goalkeeper Amarinder stood in his place. Standing cannot do anything except watch the ball go by.
