Indian star shuttler Lakshya Sen has been ousted from the US Open tournament after losing in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Commonwealth Games champion Sen lost to Li Shifeng 17-21 24-22 17-21 in a hard-fought match that lasted one hour and 16 minutes. Shifeng is the world number seven and All-England champion.

Sen didn’t get off to a great start as he lost the first game by a close margin of just four points. He came back in the second game and kept himself in the game. After these two games, the third game became interesting.

The Indian shuttler put up a good show in the third game but it was not enough to get past her opponent. Shifeng wins the match despite a put up fight by Sen.
