He again formed his new government on 27 July 2017 and became the Chief Minister of Bihar for the sixth time. Assembly elections were held in Bihar in November 2020 during the Corona period.

Recently, JP Nadda, who arrived in Patna to attend the BJP United Front National Executive meeting, had said that the regional party is on the verge of being wiped out, and only BJP will remain.
