Owaisi’s party punctured the cycle in many seats
Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi had fielded candidates on 95 seats in the Uttar Pradesh elections this time. They even formed an alliance. If we talk about the overall elections in the state, then Owaisi has got a lot of disappointment and his party got only 0.49% votes, which is less than NOTA. However, in the country’s largest state with 15.02 crore voters, his candidates still got 4.51 lakh votes. But, in the records of the Election Commission, only one candidate of the party was able to save his deposit, the rest was completely drowned in the loot of his party. But, despite this submerged loot, Owaisi has caused cycle punctures in many seats of the Samajwadi Party.
Owaisi’s candidate only got bail in Mubakarakpur
Out of the seats where Owaisi’s party had fielded its candidates, only AIMIM candidate’s security is left in the Mubarakpur seat of Azamgarh, the parliamentary constituency of SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav. That too because here Owaisi had given ticket to BSP sitting MLA Shah Aam alias Guddu Jamali for two terms. He had joined Owaisi’s party only in November last year. However, Jamali is still at number four. However, SP’s cycle has won this seat and its candidate Akhilesh has brought almost 13% more votes than the BJP candidate.
Owaisi punctured his cycle on 7 seats
But, a detailed analysis of the Election Commission data shows that Owaisi’s party, which has lost its bail, has instead punctured Akhilesh Yadav’s cycle in at least 7 assembly seats and made it easier for BJP’s lotus to bloom. . That is, if Owaisi’s party has cut so many Muslim votes in these 7 seats that in the final tally of the SP alliance, these numbers have come down because of him.
SP could win in Moradabad (city)
For example, in Moradabad (city) seat, BJP candidate Ritesh Kumar Gupta got 1,48,384 votes and defeated Samajwadi Party’s Mohammad Yusuf Ansari by 782 votes. If, assuming that the 2,661 votes polled by Owaisi’s candidate Waki Rasheed here were Muslims and all of them would have gone to the SP candidate if he was not in the fray, the BJP’s lotus was sure to wither here. Apart from AIMIM, the candidates of BSP and Congress were also Muslims and this also caused damage to the SP.
Even on these seats, AIMIM took out the wind of the cycle
Similarly, in the Kursi assembly constituency of Barabanki district, BJP’s sitting MLA Sankendra Pratap Verma won by just 217 votes from Rakesh Kumar Verma of SP. Here Owaisi’s party candidate Kumail Ashraf Khan got 8,541 votes and if it had gone to SP, the result would have been different. Similarly, Mukesh Chaudhary of BJP defeated Dharam Singh Saini of SP by 315 votes in Nakud seat of Saharanpur. Here AIMIM’s Rizwana got 3,593 votes, which can be considered as the reason for Kamal’s victory.
Nishad Party got advantage in Shahganj
The same story has been repeated in Jaunpur’s Shahganj seat. Here Shailendra Yadav Lalai of Samajwadi Party lost to Ramesh of BJP’s ally Nishad Party by only 719 votes. Here Mohammad Naib Ahmed Khan of Owaisi’s party got 8,128 votes. Here Congress also gave ticket to Muslim candidate Parvez Alam and he too got 1,529 votes.
SP lost here also because of Owaisi
Vinod Singh of BJP has won from Sultanpur Sadar seat by a margin of just 1,009 votes over Anoop Singh of SP. Here Mohammad Mirza Akram Baig of AIMIM got 5,251 votes. This time BJP’s sitting MLA Dinanath Bhaskar defeated Samajwadi Party’s Anjani Saroj by just 1,647 votes in Aurai reserved seat of Bhadohi. Whereas, Owaisi’s candidate Tedhai got 2,190 votes here.
SP’s ally suffered loss in Bijnor seat
Similarly, Samajwadi Party’s cycle has been punctured in Bijnor seat. Here BJP candidate Suchi defeated Neeraj Chaudhary of SP’s ally Rashtriya Lok Dal by 1,445 votes. Whereas, Mohammad Munir Aham of AIMIM got 2,290 votes in this seat, which is more than the victory margin of BJP.
Samajwadi Party narrowly survived on these seats
There are some seats where Samajwadi Party has hardly won because of Owaisi’s party and its margin of victory has been very small. These seats are Isauli in Sultanpur, Raniganj in Pratapgarh district, Dumariaganj and Ramnagar. If Owaisi’s party had taken even a little more vote here, Akhilesh’s cycle was sure to get punctured here too. By the way, Owaisi’s party has definitely done better than the last election. In 2017 she got only 0.24% of the votes and this time she got double that.
Even Congress has no shame in front of Owaisi.
This time Owaisi’s party has not left any mark in the UP elections, but still there are 58 seats where it has been able to garner more votes than Congress candidates by contesting only 95. In only 36 seats, the party of Gandhi-Nehru family has somehow been able to save its shame in front of the party of Hyderabad MP. But, there is another figure, which can show the mirror to the party which claims to have got freedom for the country. In the 95 seats that Owaisi’s party has contested, it has got 4,50,929 votes. Whereas, despite various claims and promises in those seats, Congress has been able to get only 1,38,533 votes even after making Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the face. This is 44% less votes than AIMIM.
