Shalini Pandey has surprised people with her big screen debut as she showed off her acting prowess by playing the character of a pregnant girl in the movie ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’. In this film, she was seen sharing screen space with acting powerhouse Ranveer Singh.
Shalini is thankful that her performance in the film has been well received by critics. He knows that as an outsider, if he has to fulfill his aspiration to become ‘the best actor in the country’, he has to ‘seize every opportunity’!
Shalini says, “Many people have described my big screen debut as a bold choice as I am pregnant in this film. It is true that I need to have a certain body type to look trustworthy as a pregnant woman. It is also true that most of the girls like to start off brighter and want to look the most beautiful. But I am not one of them.
I have always focused on playing roles that say something, have something to do or have an impact. The fact that my character is of a pregnant woman was not a cause for concern for me.” Continuing her point, she says, “For me the character matters because she has something relevant and important to say. Talk happens. I am very proud of this role and have given my best.
Here I have come to write my destiny on my own terms and aspires to be the best actor in the country. So what matters the most to me is that people loved my performance. Audiences have found me feeling confident on screen and that too opposite an actor like Ranveer Singh, who is truly a chameleon-like personality and possibly the best actor in our country today.”
It is very clear to Shalini that her performance as a pure outsider with no exposure to the industry will determine her identity. Shalini, who stunned everyone in her South debut film ‘Arjun Reddy’, says, “I want to be recognized for my talent and not just how I look on screen or off screen. This compliment doesn’t excite me if someone just says that I am looking very beautiful. I want everyone in the industry to say that Shalini always presents something new on screen. That’s why by giving me work in her film. Must be excited that I can prove to be a great actress. Right now I am spending all my time preparing for the next film.”
Concluding her talk, she says, “I know that being an outsider, I have to seize every opportunity. This position gives me great motivation because I think that’s where my best performance comes out. I am under pressure. I stand out completely. In Jayeshbhai Jordaar, I got a huge challenge as I had to rise to the level where Ranveer had already reached. I can only be grateful to people for the love I have received So as far as my debut is concerned, I hope I have managed to grab the attention of the industry. Now I have to deliver one strong performance after another to survive as an actress and achieve my goals.”
