New Delhi, August 06: Petrol and diesel prices across the country remained unchanged for the 76th day on Saturday 06 August 2022. That is, even today there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel. According to the data available on the Indian Oil Corporation website, the price of petrol in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per liter while the price of diesel is Rs 89.62. At the same time, the price of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 106.31, while diesel is being sold at Rs 94.27.
There has been no change in the rates of two auto fuels across the country in two months. On 22 May 2022, the prices of petrol and diesel were revised for the last time across the country. The central government had cut excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per liter and on diesel by Rs 6 per liter. Since then, fuel prices have remained unchanged across the country except Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, last month, the government reduced the value added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 3 respectively.

Generally, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) revise the rates of petrol and diesel daily based on the average price of the benchmark fuel in the international market over the last 15 days and foreign exchange rates. The change in the prices of petrol and diesel is done every day at 6 am.
In the global market, Brent crude futures were up 10 cents (0.1 per cent) at $96.88 a barrel by 0653 GMT, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 21 cents (0.2 per cent) at $90.87.
