Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi has praised Neeraj Chopra for this achievement.

PM Modi congratulated Neeraj Chopra for the first position
Prime Minister Modi has congratulated Neeraj Chopra for the first position. Along with this, he has been given best wishes for the upcoming competitions. PM tweeted and wrote ‘First event of the year and first place!’ Neeraj Chopra shines at Doha Diamond League with world leading throw of 88.67m. Congratulations to them! Best wishes for further endeavours.

Anurag Thakur also praised Neeraj Chopra
Apart from this, Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has also praised Neeraj Chopra for winning the Doha Diamond League 2023 for Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra. Anurag Thakur wrote in one of his tweets, ‘Neeraj Chopra has won! With a powerful throw of 88.67m, he dominated the Doha Diamond League. A true champion who has made the country proud again. Congratulations Neeraj for this stupendous win!

Neeraj could not participate in the league last year due to lack of fitness. However, it is a different matter that even after not being in this league, he continued to shine, as he became the first Indian Diamond League champion after winning the 2022 Grand Finale in Zurich last September. Neeraj Chopra has also won the Doha Diamond League 2023 title without losing time after recovering from injury.

From Neeraj’s very first effort, it seemed like he picked up his form from where he had left off. Chopra’s first throw was 88.67, a great way to start the new season. His first throw was enough to seal the win, but he still tried to push on. It was clear after his throw that Chopra was not satisfied despite getting off to a good start. He was leading the charts after the first attempt.

Chopra threw the javelin at 86.04m in the second attempt, 85.47m in the third attempt, 84.37m in the fifth attempt and 86.52m in the sixth attempt. In the end, Neeraj won the distance covered in his first attempt. However, the Olympic gold medalist missed out on crossing the 90m mark. Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic finished second with a throw of 88.63m, while Andersen Peters of Grenada finished third with a throw of 85.88m.
