The Indian badminton team created history by winning the Thomas Cup held in Bangkok, Thailand a week ago. India then broke the reign of 14-time champion Indonesia. Coach Pullela Gopichand said that this is a bigger win for the country than the 1983 World Cup.

The Indian badminton team, who returned home after achieving this historic victory, has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and praised him.

During this, the players shared their experiences with the Prime Minister. In his tweet, the PM said that the players talked about different aspects of the game. He talked about his life apart from badminton. India is proud of his achievement.

The final team that won the Thomas Cup was Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and doubles players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. India had defeated Malaysia and Denmark before reaching the final.

Coach Pullela Gopichand was also present and team captain Kidambi Srikanth also presented a badminton racket to the Prime Minister. He also thanked the PM for this meeting. On this occasion, PM shook hands with each of the players separately.

During this, the group of players also talked to the PM. Shrikant was asked by Modi whether it is important for you to be the number one player in the world or to win a competition like Thomas Cup, then Srikkanth said that being number one in the world is the dream of any player and Thomas Cup is such a competition which is 10 People play as a team. This is also a dream come true because India never won it. If I can achieve both, it will be a big deal for me.
