PM Modi has spoken to the team that won the Thomas Cup over the phone and congratulated all the players of the team for the victory. PM Modi said that the whole country is excited by your victory. Congratulations to the team that won the Cup and best wishes for their future endeavours. This win will inspire many upcoming players. PM Modi said that all of you have given 135 crore countrymen an opportunity to be proud.

India won Thomas Cup for the first time in 73 years

The Indian badminton team defeated 14-time champion Indonesia to win the title in the final of the Thomas Cup. For the first time in the 73-year history of the Thomas Cup, the Indian team has won this title. India registered a one-sided victory by defeating Indonesia 3-0. The final match was played in Bangkok.

BAI gave 1 crore rupees

After this historic win, the Badminton Association has announced a reward of Rs 1 crore to the team. This amount will be given to the players and support staff. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur also gave information about this by tweeting. Badminton Association tweeted, “This is a very proud moment for Indian Badminton. We have won many individual victories but winning the Thomas Cup crown is very special. It shows the depth of talent among men and the players and Gives full credit to the coaching staff for giving their best.Badminton Association of India honors the players and support staff with a rewarding amount of 1 crore.
