PV Sindhu reached the quarterfinals of Korea Open, Kidambi Srikanth also won her match

sunchen [दक्षिण कोरिया]7 April: Third seed PV Sindhu entered the quarter-finals of the 2022 Korea Open Badminton Championships by defeating Aya Ohori of Japan at the Palma Stadium here on Thursday.

The Indian star, a two-time Olympic medalist, defeated world number 26 Aya Ohori of Japan 21-15, 21-10 in the second round of her women’s singles match. PV Sindhu took 37 minutes to register her 12th win against Ohori.

Sindhu will now take on Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the quarterfinals.

PV Sindhu is ranked seventh in the Badminton World Rankings. Although Sindhu didn’t start the match well, she kept herself ahead in the first break to lead 11-9. The Indian shuttler then shifted gears to win the first game with ease.

Sindhu was then trailing 8-4 in the second game but won four consecutive points to level the score and then went 11-9 ahead at the second break. The Indian player changed the pace dramatically after the resumption and entered the quarter-finals of the BWF Super 500 event, winning 10 straight points to clinch the match.

Later, former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth defeated Israel’s Misha Zilberman 21-18, 21-6. The Indian, a World Championship silver medalist, had to work hard in the first game but eventually managed to register a 21-18 win.

However, the Indian changed gears in the second game before Misha Zilberman opened the account, taking a massive 12-0 lead. Srikanth completed the challenge with ease and ended the match in 33 minutes.
