RBI said this about 2000 rupee note

There has been a decline in the number of 2000 rupee notes since the last few days. If compared with other notes, the share of 2000 rupees notes in the total currency notes till March this year has come down to 1.6 percent. If we look at the number of 2000 rupees notes, then by the end of March 2020 it was 274 crores. If we compare this with the total currency notes in circulation, then its number was 2.4 percent. RBI itself has given this information in its report.

While the number of 2000 rupees notes in the year 2020 was 274 crores, in March 2021 its number came down to 245 crores. That is, only 2 percent of the total currency notes. At the end of the last financial year, the number of Rs 2000 notes fell to 214 crore, which was only 1.6 per cent of the total currency notes.

According to the RBI report, while the circulation of 2000 rupees notes is decreasing in terms of numbers, then if we look at the value wise, then till March 2020, the total value of 2000 rupees notes was 22.6 percent of the total value of all the notes. No, it fell to 17.3 percent in March 2021 and 13.8 percent in March 2022. While the denomination of 2000 rupees has decreased, the number of 500 rupees notes is increasing continuously.

According to the RBI report, in March 2022, the number of 500 rupees notes increased to 4554.68 crores. Whereas in March 2021 it was 3867.90 crores.
