Honda Racing India rider Sarthak Chavan has created a new record by securing a podium finish in the Thailand Talent Cup 2022 Round 2. He has made India proud at the international level as this is the first time in the history of Honda Racing India that an Indian rider has achieved this victory.
Showcasing his true racing passion, he showed off his riding skills at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram (Thailand) last weekend. Sarthak, just 15 years old, comes from Pune. He made his way into the second round race to finish in the top-five after starting from his 12th position on the grid.
It is reported that Sarthak gave a tough competition even in wet conditions and challenged the best Asian riders and finished third by just 0.583 seconds behind the race leader.
Sarthak’s teammate Kavin Quintal (16-years) also showed confidence in the race. Starting 15th on a grid of 16 riders, the Chennai boy got off to a good start and outclassed five riders in the first lap itself. He went on to finish ninth with a total time of 29:50.42.
Commenting on the performance of Indian riders in the second round, Prabhu Nagaraj, Operating Officer – Brand & Communications, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “We are extremely pleased with the results of our riders in Round 2.
Honda Racing India team entered the second round of Thailand Talent Cup 2022 with a total of 13 points. After finishing 12th and 15th on the grid in the second round of qualifying races, Sarthak Chavan and Kavin Quintal showed aggression in Race One to finish 9th and 13th respectively. With this, Sarthak put six points and Kavin four points in his bag.
Showcasing the spirit of the Indian youth to the world, the Indian pair of riders finished Race Two in the top 10 (meaningful third and Kavin ninth), thus adding 32 points for the team. With the end of the second round of Thailand Talent Cup 2022, Sarthak Chavan now has a total of 35 points, while his teammate Kavin Quintal has 10 points.
Sarthak said after the performance, “I am very happy with my performance in this round as I was able to give my best on the track. I finished third on the podium. This win has boosted my confidence and I am doing more for the country.” I will continue to work hard to earn the respect.”
At the same time, Quintal said, “This phase was about learning for me. The competition here is very tough. Personally, I am happy with my performance in this round as I was able to collect points for the team. My target comes next. You have to improve and improve your race skills in the next rounds.”
