Syed Modi International: PV Sindhu made it to the finals, Malvika will fight for the title

new Delhi. Former champion PV Sindhu is on her way to winning another title. Sindhu entered the final of the Syed Modi India International 2022. She won over Evgenia Kosetskaya in the semi-finals. However, this match could not be completed as Evgenia decided to retire after losing the first match. Sindhu dominated her 5th seeded Russian rival. Sindhu had registered a 21-11 win in the first opening game.

In the second semi-final match of the same tournament, Malvika Bansod defeated compatriot Anupama Upadhyay in a three-game match. Malvika won the match 19-21 21-19 21-7. In such a situation, now 2017 champion Sindhu will now face compatriot Malvika Bansod on Sunday. After defeating former London Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal at the India Open in January, 20-year-old Mavalika will be eyeing yet another upset. And despite winning an Olympic bronze medal in Tokyo last year, Sindhu has not been on tour for more than two years. The two-time Olympic medalist will be hoping to end that drought on Sunday.

Sindhu was considered a contender to win the match. Sindhu, ranked seventh in the BWF rankings, had beaten world number 28 Kosetskaya twice before Saturday’s match and the Indian ace once again managed to assert her dominance against Russia. Sindhu had defeated sixth seed Supanida Katethong of Thailand in the quarterfinals. The match between the two lasted for one hour and five minutes. Sindhu made a spectacular comeback after losing the first game 11-21. He won the match 11-21, 21-12, 21-17.
