Thailand Open 2022: Kidambi Srikanth wins the first round, Ashmita loses

Bangkok, May 18:
Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth started his draw with a win in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday. He won the Bryce Leverdez Thailand Open 2022 men’s singles draw in France.

Playing on Court 2, Srikanth defeated Leverdez 18-21, 21-10, 21-16 in a match that lasted 49 minutes.
Srikanth made a great comeback after losing the first game and went on to win the next two games.

Shuttler Ashmita Chaliha, on the other hand, lost to Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the first round of her women’s singles category. The Indian shuttler could never hold on to Ratchanok in a 29-minute-long match at Court 1 here as his opponents went on to win 10-21, 15-21.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chaliha defeated Jenny Guy of USA 21-16, 21-18 in 27 minutes to win the women’s singles qualifier match.

The action of the day is not over yet as the top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Akarshi Kashyap, HS Prannoy and B Sai Praneeth will be in action till the end of the day.
