New Delhi, April 20: Cases of corona virus infection have increased in India in the last few days. In a study conducted by the Institute of Mathematical Science in Chennai regarding the spread of corona virus, it has been said that the fertility rate of Kovid in the country ie ‘R’ value has crossed 1 after about three months. The study said that for the first time since January, the R value has increased to more than one. Due to which concerns have increased regarding the increase in corona infection.

According to Sitabhara Sinha, the country’s R-value has been rising steadily over the past few weeks. Last week (between 12-18 April) it has been 1.07. Sinha said the last time the R-value was above 1 was between January 16-22, at 1.28. He said that this increase in R-value is due not only to Delhi but also to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Why the R value goes above one is a matter of concern

The ‘R value’ refers to the reproduction rate of the corona virus. The number of people infected with the corona virus is called its ‘R value’. That is, if a person infected with Kovid-19 infects one person, then the R value will be 1 and if an infected person spreads the infection to an average of 2 people, then the value will be 2. Similarly, an ‘R’ value of less than 1 indicates that at least one individual patient is infecting less than one person on average. That’s why doctors want the ‘R’ value to be less than 1 in times of epidemic. To make sure that the virus is now spreading very less. According to experts, having an ‘R value’ greater than 1 is also an indication of a new wave of corona.
