During this, 2 half-centuries were seen with his bat. He emerged as the best match finisher for Gujarat in the tournament. In the final too, Miller returned unbeaten on 32 off 19 balls. In Qualifier-1 too, he scored an unbeaten 68 off just 38 balls against Rajasthan. Earlier, against Chennai Super Kings in the league stage, the South African batsman scored an unbeaten 94 while chasing a target of 170 runs.

David Miller played his first match in IPL on 20 April 2012 while playing for Kings XI Punjab. He was a part of this tournament continuously from 2012 to 2021, but could never win the trophy. In 2014, he played the final of the tournament for Punjab, but could not win the title. Finally the wait of 3691 days (121 months and 9 days) came to an end and Miller managed to win his first IPL.
