TMC leader targets PM Modi on demonetisation on the pretext of RBI report on fake notes

New Delhi. The Reserve Bank of India recently released a report, in which it has been said that there has been an increase in fake notes of Rs 10, 20, 200, 500 and 2000, while there has been a decline in the supply of fake notes of Rs 50 and Rs 100. Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over counterfeit notes and demonetisation and showed some figures while taunting him.
TMC leader Derek O’Brien took a jibe at the Modi government’s 2016 demonetisation claim that it would encourage digital transactions and curb counterfeit notes. Sharing a graphic figure, the TMC leader explained how the supply of counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination has doubled in a year. Whereas in one year the number of fake notes of 2000 rupees has increased by 54 percent.
Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he wrote – ‘Hello Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remember demonetisation? He further wrote that remember how Mamta Banerjee criticized your move? You promised that demonetisation would stop counterfeit notes, RBI report says there has been a huge increase in the number of counterfeit notes.
In fact, the Reserve Bank of India has written in its report that compared to last year, 16.4 percent in 10 rupee notes, 16.5 percent in 20 rupees notes, 11.7 percent in 200 rupees notes, 101.9 percent in 500 rupees notes and 2000 rupees. There was an increase of 54.6 per cent in counterfeit notes of Rs. Referring to this report, first Rahul Gandhi attacked the Modi government, then now the TMC MP also opened the front.
