Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, Oleksandr Bornyakov, made a statement saying “Cryptocurrencies play an important role in Ukraine’s defense.” “Cryptocurrency assets have proven to be extremely valuable in facilitating the funding of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers, and in increasing awareness and interest among the global public,” he said in the statement.

Everstake, one of Ukraine’s largest cryptocurrency firm, will enable users to donate in cryptocurrencies other than the tokens listed on the site. Preparations are being made to provide the facility to donate in NFT in future on the website.

On the other hand, the Bahamas-based exchange platform FTX, founded by American billionaire Sam-Bankman Fried, will convert the donated money into dollars and send it to the National Bank of Ukraine. Ukrainian cryptocurrency exchange Kuna is also involved in the initiative.

Through this, a target has been set to raise $ 200 million ($ 200 million). A tracker on the add on Ukraine side showed that $4.9 million of this target had been raised as of Tuesday.

It has been told in the joint statement that this money will be used to help the Ukrainian army as well as to provide the most needed humanitarian aid to the civilians.

The Ukrainian government is also using the money raised with the help of cryptocurrencies to buy weapons. Although experts say that the amount received through cryptocurrencies is very less compared to the war, but in this situation Ukraine is treating even this small amount as a huge. Ukraine hopes that it will grow and it will get a lot of money.
