People often ask a question to astrologers, scholars that why all the people born at the same time on the same day do not have the same fate? Some take birth in the house of the rich and some in the house of the poor. Some are born healthy and some are born with a terrible disease in the body. Some are long and some are short lived. The answer to this question has been beautifully presented in the illustrations through the story of a king.

The scriptures say that astrology is basically the science of duty and practical science. It is based on karma. The destiny of every living being, that is, the karma of the previous birth, is different and he has to suffer the effect of the same in the next birth.

To check the veracity of this fact, a king called a meeting of learned astrologers and asked that according to my birth chart, I have a chance of becoming a king, but at the same time in which I was born, many people must have taken birth, who could not become king. Why? What is the reason of this?

No one had the answer to this question of the king. There was silence in the assembly. Then an old man stood up from the middle of the meeting and said – Sir, no one has the answer to your question here, but I will tell you how you will get the answer to your question. The king began to listen carefully to the elder. The elders said – If you go alone in a dense forest far away from here, you will find a Mahatma, he can answer your question.

An anxious king went alone into the dense forest as told by the elders. After traveling for hours, he saw a Mahatma in the forest, who was eating embers sitting near a pile of fire. As soon as the terrified king reached the Mahatma, the Mahatma scolded and said that I do not have time to answer your question, I am compelled by my hunger. From here there is another Mahatma in the midst of the hills, from him you can get the answer.

The king’s curiosity increased further. The king walked towards the hills. By the way, it got very dark. After walking for miles on the hills, the king saw the Mahatma. The Mahatma was eating his own flesh by tearing it with tongs. On seeing the king, the Mahatma scolded and said – I am restless with hunger. I don’t have time to answer your question. Go ahead A child is going to be born on the other side of the hills with the tribals who will live only for five minutes. Arrive before sunrise, the child can answer.

The king hurriedly walked towards the village. Before sunrise, the king reached the tribal couple’s place and ordered that as soon as the child is born, he should be presented with the placenta in front of me. After waiting for some time the child was born and brought before the king. On seeing the king, the boy laughed and said, “I don’t even have time, king, but still listen to your answer.”

You, me and the two Mahatmas with whom you have come together, we were brothers and princes seven births ago. While playing hunting, we wandered in the forest. After wandering hungry and thirsty for three days, we suddenly found a bundle of flour in the forest. As soon as we baked four baatis with that flour and were sitting to eat with our respective baatis, a Mahatma, suffering from hunger and thirst, came there. To the brother who ate coal, he said, son, I am hungry for ten days. Give me something from your baati so that my life can be saved. On hearing this, my brother said angrily – if I give it to you, what fire will I eat? Let’s run away from here.

After this the Mahatma asked the meat-eater brother, then he also scolded the Mahatma and drove him away saying that if I give you my bat, will I eat my meat by tearing it?

The helpless Mahatma came to me with hunger. Begged for the baati, but I also drove them away and said that if I give you my baati, should I starve to death?

The Mahatma came to you with the last hope. Begged for mercy from you too. With a very happy heart, you gave half of your bati to the Mahatma with respect. Mahatma ji was very pleased after receiving the bati and while leaving said – your future will be fruitful by your actions and behaviour.

The boy said – on the basis of this incident, today all four of us are enjoying our karma. Many beings are born on earth at a time, but everyone’s destiny is different, due to which their fate is formed. Saying this, the boy’s breath stopped.

The king proceeded to his palace and was convinced that astrology is basically the science of duty and practical science.
