Mumbai. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary was celebrated recently on 19th February. Shivaji Maharaj is said to be the pioneer of the movement to create a Hindu nation. Shivaji Maharaj fought a lot of battles with the Mughal and the British Empire and got dusted. Shivaji spent most of his life in Maharashtra. At the same time, Shivaji also spent some time in Agra. He was born in the year 1630 on 19th February at Shivneri Fort in Maharashtra. Shivaji Maharaj also had a close relationship with Agra.

In the year 1666, when Shivaji Maharaj reached the Red Fort of Agra with his son Sambhaji. During that time there was the rule of Aurangzeb. When Shivaji Maharaj did not get the highest respect in Agra, he insulted Aurangzeb. Then to take revenge, Aurangzeb imprisoned Shivaji Maharaj and in this fort Shivaji was imprisoned for 99 days.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has an important history associated with Agra. To preserve this history, the history department of Agra University has adopted the statue of Shivaji Maharaj in front of the Red Fort. The entire responsibility of maintaining and cleaning that statue is with Agra University.

Inscriptions have been put around this statue to inform people about the history of Shivaji Maharaj related to Agra. It is written on these inscriptions that when Shivaji Maharaj came to Agra and for how long he stayed here. The birthday of Shivaji Maharaj is celebrated with great pomp in Agra.
