London, 9 July: Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybkina on Saturday won the first Grand Slam title of her career. The 23-year-old defeated Tunisian Ons Jabeur 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the final at Center Court as the champions of Wimbledon 2022.

Jabeur qualified for the quarterfinals in SW19 last year and wanted to be the first Arab woman to win any Grand Slam. He started the match brilliantly, breaking Rybakina’s serve twice. But from the second set onwards, the Kazakhstan star made a spectacular comeback.

Jabeur was clearly the favorite to win the title, not only because she was a highly seeded player, but also because of her recent form.

Before that, she became the first Arab woman to play in a Grand Slam final. In the last two sets, she looked a little different as Rybakina dominated. Rybakina could not take a single break in the first set but broke her opponent’s serve four times in the last two sets.

Rybakina defeated former world No. 1 and former Wimbledon champion Simona Halep in the semi-finals to reach the final. In the final, the youngster showed great mental strength and won the championship.

As far as Jabeur is concerned, he made unexpected mistakes. She defeated her friend Tatjana Maria in a thrilling three-setter in the semi-finals, but failed to show the same consistency in the final.
