New Delhi, 5 July: 20-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic once again showed why he is such a big player. Djokovic could not be ruled out of the game even after losing two sets and advanced to the semi-finals after winning another surprise fight in the men’s singles quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2022.

Novak Djokovic is returning for the third time in Wimbledon history after a two-set loss. He faced a tough challenge from 10th seeded and 20-year-old Italian Jannik Sinner.

Djokovic won his 26th straight match at Wimbledon and made it to the semi-finals, fulfilling his dream of winning a fourth consecutive title at the grass-court Grand Slam. It was Djokovic’s 11th semi-final ticket at Wimbledon and 43rd at a Grand Slam.

Djokovic defeated Sinner 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. This match lasted for 3 hours 35 minutes. Djokovic looked completely frustrated in the first two sets and his forehand was a failure, but during the toilet break the player spoke to himself and came out with renewed vigor.

Djokovic made only 3 mistakes in the third set and he continued to win as he came into form.

But there was no doubt that his Italian opponent was brilliant as he defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in the first round and 5th seed Carlos Alcaraz in the last round of 16.

Djokovic dominated the sinner in the last 3 sets and did not give him any chance. The 20-year-old also avoided injury as his ankle was twisted while playing his shot. It was the fourth set and Djokovic immediately came to inquire about the Italian player. Thankfully, the player made a quick recovery from the injury and the game went into the final set where Djokovic emerged as the winner.

Djokovic will face the winner of the second quarter-final between Britain’s number one Cameron Norie and Spain’s David Goffin.
