Wimbledon 2023: Novak Djokovic lost in the final, 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz became the champion

Wimbledon 2023 Final:
Wimbledon has got a new champion in men’s singles. Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated Serbia’s Novak Djokovic 3-2. The match went till the final set. This is Alcaraz’s second Grand Slam title. Djokovic fell behind after winning the opening set.

The first set was one-sided. In other words, there was no special effort from Alcaraz’s side. Djokovic easily won the set with a score of 6-1. After this set, it seemed that Djokovic would win in the next set as well but it did not happen.

However, Djokovic had to fight hard in the second set. Alcaraz came back with a bang to make the score 6-6. The set was decided in a tie breaker. There, Alcaraz won the set by a margin of 7-6 and the match reached the third set.

Alcaraz won two games in a row in the final set. Djokovic then came back to win a game and lost again in the next game. The matter did not stop here. Alcaraz won the fifth game to make it 4-1. From here the pressure increased on Djokovic and he lost one more game. In this way Alcaraz won the third set 6-1. From here, Djokovic won the fifth set to make the score 2-2. Alcaraz won the final set to win the title.

Earlier, Marketa Vondrousova of Czech Republic had won in women’s singles. She became the first female player to win the title in non-preference. She won the title by defeating sixth seed Ons Zebeur of Tunisia in the final.
